What is this research about?
Bidets offer back dignity to those that struggle with only toilet paper. This clinical trial presents an opportunity for patients to be given a new intervention that may be better for patient’s current toileting condition or that has fewer side effects than what they are receiving now.
This opportunity will also present better working conditions for Carers and Nursing staff.
InteliCorp and Charles Dawin University are conducting a feasibility study on the use of bidets.
What is the aim of this trial?
The aim of this work is to address the gap in knowledge by investigating the potential of the electronic bidet to support patients with core self-care activity limitations in toileting, as well as staff who provide support for persons’ daily intimate personal care needs.

Specific trial objectives
Bidet Trial Objectives
The purpose of this body of work is to determine if the bidet is feasible, acceptable, practical and an effective alternative to usual, manual post voiding cleaninnig, for patients, professional carers/nurses in hospital, home and/or ages care contexts.
Bidet Acceptance
Investigate the factors, including the attitudes, values and practical aspects that influence the acceptance of the bidet by patients, nurses/carers, and staff of hospital.
Bidet Feasibility
Establish the feasibility of installing and using bidets in the day-to-day care of patients in hospital or residential care in their homes.
Staff Acceptance
This study cannot succeed without the support from staff, by encouraging the Bidet Users to complete the QR code questionnaire as many times as possible and encouraging those staff that are Carers to complete the QR code questionnaire frequently.
Bidet Limitations
Determine the limitations of the bidet and record any contra-indications.
Joint Clinical Trial:
The Bidet Shop and Charles Darwin University will jointly conduct this trial.

Survey for Carers of Patients and Bidet Users
How it works?
- Both the Carers and the Users must sign the “Informed Consent Form”.
- Posters are printed and placed in and/or around the toilets fitted with retrofit bidets or locations easily seen by participants.
- Bidets are utilized regularly.
- Participants access the QR code located on the posters (Carer or User) and complete the short questionnaire.
- Participants are requested to complete the survey as many times as possible for the best solid clinical trial results.
